Metabolic rate is one of the most important factors to be worked on when you are trying to lose weight. Let me first describe what metabolic rate is. Metabolic rate means the rate at which your body burns calories when your body is in a resting state, like sleeping, watching TV, reading magazine, sitting comfortably on the chair while chatting and any activity like these in which your calories are not burning due to movement. Yes, you heard right, human body burns calories even when it is absolutely still and is thus losing weight. The amount of weight you lose while resting entirely depends on your body’s basal metabolic rate. So if you want to lose weight then you must increase your basal metabolic rate. Now you will be thinking how to do that. The most easy way to increase the metabolic rate is to increase your muscle mass, that means you have to start weight training to increase the size of your muscles. Why? Because muscles need energy to live and stay in working condition 24/7 thus they keep on burning calories even when you are sleeping. So the larger your muscles are the more calories they will consume and the more weight you will lose. Now if you are female then you might hesitate to start weight training cause you might think it will make you look bulky but trust me if you follow the right routine and chose the right trainer then you will not look bulky but will look more sexy. Make sure you tell your trainer that you want to make muscle but want to have a lean body shape, and then he will design the routine according to your specific needs. Just give it a try you will be amazed with the results.
